Our work can range from full custom designed home concepts to modifications on our suite of Flexhouse offerings. North River Design Build focuses on bringing these homes from our designs to turnkey client services.

Role
North River is looking for a qualified individual who can support multiple residential construction projects from start to finish. We are seeking someone who can organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Candidates must be well-versed in all construction methods and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind, great organizational skills, and a passion for the built environment. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling
    • Work closely on site with Assistant Project Manager, carpentry staff, subcontractors and vendors to ensure the job maintains the agreed pace and budget throughout.
    • Prepare and maintain all project schedules collaboratively with the construction project teams.
    • Participate, coordinate and control all phases from construction planning and site work through to final inspections and punch list completion.
    • Communicate and problem solve scheduling demands for internal staff and external counterparts. Assess resources to ensure that all schedules can be met.
    • Ability in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Maintain and review project budget throughout construction to ensure completion within client approved budgets.
    • Report to Ownership about all major project milestones and concerns.
  • Procurement and Resource Management
    • Tenacity to get work done. This role will on occasion be a hands-on job when needed. Layout and knowledge of all building systems is required.
    • Create scope of work documents and hold subcontractors accountable for full execution of their contracted work.
    • Complete takeoffs throughout all phases of construction.
    • Project future material and labor needs in advance.
    • Manage and support all activities related to vendor and subcontractor execution, quality control, and project sequencing.
    • Create and maintain strong relationships with staff, subcontractors, vendors.
  • Pre-construction services
    • Support the Director of Construction services in the project pre-construction services, site preparations, drawing analysis and budget review


Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of construction experience as a site supervisor, foreman, or field project manager
  • Must be computer literate and competent with the use of Construction Management Softwares (Procore)
  • Competent in Microsoft/Google Suite – particularly Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable with the use of Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams as communication modes.
  • Flexible office hours with most time in person on job sites, with flexibility to work on occasion from our office or from home.

Compensation Structure

Salary:
Beginning immediately, the position would be offered with a salary range of $80,000-$100,000/year, depending on experience, with an assumed forty hour work week.

Role
North River is seeking an in-person full-time junior architectural designer to join our team starting immediately. As a benefit of working in a smaller firm, the daily work will consist of assisting in all phases of architectural design and construction documents, construction phase services, material sourding and specifications, budgeting, presentations and general project support. Additionally, as a firm, we offer design and construction services, which means that employees can intimately see the process from parti and sketch to final construction.

Our ideal fit for this role would be someone who brings confidence to the role. Excellent AutoCAD drafting abilities and Sketchup 3D modeling skills are a must. Candidates must be highly motivated and a quick learner, and should be knowledgeable about or eager to learn about sustainable architecture and construction. The ideal candidate should have a passion for architectural design and desire to learn and grow in a small firm in which they can contribute to all aspects of a project. Candidates must be responsible, organized, punctual, reliable, and have strong communication skills.


Requirements & Qualifications:

  • B. Arch or M.Arch Professional Degree
  • While a few years of in-field experience are appreciated, this is not a requirement
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, including XRef management, construction drawing preparation, and design detailing
  • Proficient in SketchUp, Photoshop, Adobe Suite and Mac software
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Team-oriented attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and workload
  • Valid US driver’s license


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with structural and mechanical engineers
  • On-site construction services experience

Compensation Structure

Salary:
Beginning immediately, the position would be offered with a salary of $55,000 – $70,000/year with an assumed forty hour work week. This is variable depending on experience.
