Tivoli Guesthouse

An expansion on our Flexhouse II, this guesthouse shows the range of what a simple floor plan can achieve. The home features a common living space between two guest wings, one with a second bedroom on the upper level. The house itself is carefully nestled between oak trees on site with no shortage of views from the home out to the adjacent field. The interior is thoughtfully appointed in collaboration with Frances Mildred LLC and features rich warm finishes throughout. The exterior highlights thermally modified Lunawood siding, installing it with a gapped rainscreen application and varied widths to mimic the stand of trees between this guest house and the main home. As the siding greys over time, the surrounding tree bark and home will blend together even more. With a large covered outdoor space and expressive windows, the home embeds with the surroundings seamlessly.

Across the field is a small writing studio, standing as a retreat from the busyness of the main home with views over an adjacent horse farm. Both structures are built to passive house standards while taking a locavore approach to finishes: highlighting work from local cabinet shops and furniture makers.
