North River Electric House

In late 2023, our team took on the task of gutting and renovating this 1840s brick storefront building in the center of the historic hamlet of Stone Ridge, NY and reimagining it as an all electric coworking space, community event hub and education center to spread the message of sustainability in all forms. The result is a 4,248 square foot adaptive space, set up to invite collaborative and individual work space for the community through membership. With three conference rooms, two main work spaces, four private phone booths and a dedicated conference room for the anchor tenant, the space can invite all types of workflow. The main room is clad on the interior with thermocork panels on the walls and a random pattern of Autex recycled panels on the

ceiling, making for optimal acoustics. Both main work spaces double as event space, inviting art gallery events, sustainability lectures, fundraisers and community centered events in the heart of this small hamlet. The goal was to showcase ways that honor and reimagine the old building, while embedding a new level of long term sustainability for the century ahead.
